Best WordPress Theme For Internet Marketing

Over the last few years doing affiliate marketing using wordpress as my go to software for its ease of setup, use and management I have come to love one main theme for building out my sites. This wordpress theme is known as Socrates 3.0. I do like to use one other theme called Thesis 2.0 as it also has some great features as well.  Thesis did start out as my go to theme, however since time is so valuable to me these days Thesis has become my second choice for affiliate sites. Do not get me wrong Thesis 2.0 is wonderful for building large blogs etc but for smaller affiliate sites Socrates wins hands down due to how fast I can configure it, load my affiliate links, social links etc. . For those interested in learning more about the Thesis theme, I will be writing about Thesis 2.0 in the near future so keep an eye out for its review. My Top 7 Favorite Socrates Theme Features Advanced SEO Layouts In Post Ad Units that can be enabled and disabled on each individual post Multiple Sidebar Layouts – Different widths are available as well as left or right locations. Custom Nav Bar Locations – You can setup menus in 4 different locations so it is super simple to put the items that are most important on your blog in the most prominent location and any others menu items that are less significant to the user in less prominent locations on the page. Custom colours can be created by just a of couple clicks of the mouse to make each site unique over any others. Shortcodes were a great inclusion to this theme as they helped to eliminate some of the wordpress plugins I used to use for creating review sites etc. Social Media Sliders – Again this allowed me to eliminate a plugin plus I feel where they put the icons for social media is very appropriate in the eyes of the user. Easy to see and with it rotating from facebook, to google plus to youtube etc. again attracts attention which hopefully gets us all more social shares. Inside the updated version 3.0 features They added a couple of additional magazine layouts that also have featured posts and an image slider with a few animated transitions between photos. View Magazine 1 Here – View Magazine 2 Here Another new feature in version 3 was the addition of portfolio layout complete with lightbox integration for viewing of your images. View The Portfolio Layout Sample Here Socrates also implemented two new sales page templates that are perfect for creating sale...

Guest Blogging and Posting – Places, Tools and Methods

If you are into SEO and link building then more then likely you have been reading about guest blogging somewhere along the way.  This year guest blogging/posting has become a very hot topic as many website owners are looking for ways to build credible links to their websites from authority sites in their niches. Certainly as this method becomes more and more popular google may find ways to devalue these links by looking for the lower quality sites and lesser quality articles.  If you do the work upfront before doing any posting I believe you can stay ahead of this possible crack down from the big G. What is the biggest challenge to guest blogging? I think finding the best places to get your guest posts posted is the number one difficulty you may find to do. There are a few ways we can find new opportunities for our guest posts. 1. You could do a google search and include your keyword/keywords plus the term guest post, guest writing, guest blog, write for us etc.  You will find many sites this way but you will have to contact each one individually or send a generic email to all the sites you find at one time. Then you have to sit back and wait for reply from the site owner. This way works but does take quite a lot of your time. SEO Moz has already written a great article about this and you can find it here. 2. There is a site that has been created to bring together website owners and authors who are looking for guest blogging opportunities and this site is known as MyblogGuest.com.  Some of the benefits it offers anyone looking to do guest posting  is it allows you to reach your target audience.  It helps you to build your brand and networks. Plus it allows you to build links to your site from relevant sites.  It really does create a nice symbiotic relationship between guest writers and blog owners who both benefit from the relationship.  So if you need content on your site you can receive it and if you need links you can build them.  Pretty nice I think.  I recommend giving it a try. I also found this nice info graphic today about why MyBlogGuest Rocks and hope you enjoy it as well. Why MyBlogGuest ROCKS infographic   You can visit MyBlogGuest.com to learn about it’s features here. This is not the only site like this and here are some others for you. SEO Tools and Internet Marketing Software of Choice

SEO is not a one step simple process. There are many tools that are used for both onsite and offsite SEO functions today as well as checking on competitors. Some of the tools I use overlap into others and some are free while others do require an investment. I find that the free usually means limited in some way or another but that is not always the case. That being said sometimes you get what you pay for and other times you do not, you get less. Luckily many of the providers of the different paid software’s do have refund policies of either 30 days or more, so take advantage of that if you need to. Firefox Plugins YSlow for Firefox – Use this plugin to check on your page load times. It will help you find where you need improvements. Rank Checker Plugin for Firefox – This plugin works well, but it does not track your keywords for more then the day you perform a search. SEO Quake Plugin for Firefox – Use this plugin to check on your sites parameters. Items such as keyword density, total words and many other functions can be done using this plugin. Firebug Plugin for Firefox – This plugin is for checking site errors. If you have htm, css and scripts it will tell you about any issues on your pages. WordPress Plugins W3 Total Cache (Reduces Page Load Times) – Use this along with the Yslow plugin for firefox and you can lower your page load times by a significant amount in a short amount of time. Platinum SEO (Improves SEO Quality Score) – This plugin lets you control SEO titles for your blogs home page, other pages and any posts. You can write a unique title for each post for the search engines, control the meta description and meta keywords as well. I am surprised that WordPress has not incorporated this into the wordpress software. Pretty Link Lite – This plugin will help those who do affiliate marketing. You can hide your affiliate links and make them pretty for both the viewer of your site as well as the search engines. Shareaholic (For Social Sharing) – Every site needs some sort of social sharing. This is my go to plugin for my sites. I like the way it setups, and the look.   Keyword Research Google Keyword Tool (Free Tool) – Find Relevant and Targeted Keywords for any Niche. Traffic Travis (Free Version Available) – Perform a health check on your website, uncover technical mistakes, keep tabs on competitors, monitor rankings, and find link partners. Market Samurai (14 Day Trial)...

Articles I Have Enjoyed Reading April 2013

Articles I Have Read Recently You Might Like Big Brands and Google I started out by heading over to one of my favorite sites to find out what is going on in regards to the internet at a site called Search Engine Land.  I read an article by Chris Cemper about Interflora being removed from Googles index right after Valentines Day  and reappeared a week before Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom. His article looks into What Did They Fix & How Did They Come Back So Fast? What this article really shows is how big brands have power online and how other small sites that are Mom and Pop type sites really are far down on the totem pole at Google. It is a shame but it does look to be  true.  You can read the article by clicking here. SEO Ranking Factors 2013 Another article I had the pleasure to read was over at businessbolts.com by author Lisa Parmley. She looked into the SEO ranking factors at Google for 2013.  The point of this study was to  analyze factors in the ranking of sites within the top ten of Google’s listings. One conclusion they came upon that I totally agreed with 100% was the article length when ranking.  To find out their results you can read more by clicking here. Google Analytics Tips Being fairly new to using analytics on my websites I have been in search of videos and articles on how to utilize this tool more effectively.  Sometimes I think I need to get a degree in mathematics and computer science to use some of these, as they are certainly very robust.  Even if I did get those degrees I still would probably only use about 25% of Google Analytics at best. Currently I track downloads, social sharing, affiliate clicks and the usual stuff and am curious to learn of others things I can do. This article by Matthew Woodward called “How To Increase Traffic With My Custom Google Analytics Profile” gave me some great insights to other things that I can achieve with the tool. To read his article click here. Blogs and Blog Search Google has mentioned this very often how content is the king, and new content feeds their machine. I wanted to understand more about how to repurpose my content so as to make it go further, rather then having to create new content all the time. Over at Search Engine Journal an author named Marcela De Vivo wrote a great piece all about this topic with some wonderful tips for repurposing content.  Marcela certainly had ideas that I would have...
