When you bring fresh herbs home from the grocery store, all you have to do, typically, is give them a good rinse and dry, then throw 'em in a bag and pop 'em in the fridge. Good to go!
Not so with basil, though.
As Rach says, "Treat [basil] much like bringing home fresh-cut flowers."
That means you need to trim the bottoms and place them in water. (A small cup will do!)
But if you want them to last for weeks? Here's Rachael's hot tip: Create a little greenhouse by putting a large food storage bag over the cup on the counter.
"You'll get so much more life out of your basil!" Rach promises.
