LOVELLOCK, Nev. (KRNV/KRXI) — The Nevada Department of Corrections has confirmed that former football star Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson will have a parole hearing in July. While the exact date has not been announced, officials indicated the hearing will occur sometime during the month.
Simpson, 69, has been serving a 33-year prison sentence for kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. He has been incarcerated at the Lovelock Correctional Center in northeastern Nevada since 2007.
Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The two were found stabbed to death at Brown Simpson’s Los Angeles home on June 13, 1994.
“The parole hearing will take place sometime in July,” stated the Nevada Department of Corrections.
If found eligible, Simpson could be released on parole in October. News 4–Fox 11 has announced it will provide complete coverage of the upcoming hearing as the story continues to develop.
O.J. Simpson, serving time for armed robbery, is set for a potential parole hearing in July, which may lead to his release as early as October if approved.
