Lindy Waters, an NBA player from Oklahoma and member of the San Antonio Spurs, is using his influence to inspire Native students to aim for college through a special event organized by his foundation.
Waters is getting ready for the Spurs’ new season while also dedicating time to this important educational initiative. He shared recent updates about his health and training:
"I've been busy. Getting ready for the season with the San Antonio Spurs. I had a great camp, had an eye appointment and unfortunately they found a couple of small tears but we got that repaired. Hopefully, can make my return in the next week."
The event aims to provide Native students with a glimpse of college life to motivate them towards higher education. Waters explained the reason behind his commitment:
"We're trying to be able to use my platform to expose them to higher education... I would want someone with the same stature, or platform to provide that for me if I was younger."
Waters' efforts highlight the importance of using public platforms to uplift and empower underrepresented youth.
