Antonio Brown, former Central Michigan University and NFL star, has been arrested on an attempted murder charge, Miami Police confirmed. The incident dates back to May 16 during a celebrity boxing event in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood.
During the event, shots were fired, and Brown was briefly detained. He claimed on social media that he was attacked by multiple individuals attempting to steal his jewelry and cause him harm.
“Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED,” Brown stated.
However, later reports revealed an arrest warrant naming Brown. He is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man he had previously fought with.
The victim told investigators that one bullet grazed his neck.
Brown was arrested in Dubai and transported to Newark, New Jersey. Miami Police met him there and confirmed he is now in custody awaiting extradition to Miami.
“Let this serve as a clear message; no matter who you are or where you run, we will pursue the facts, identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice,” said Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales.
Summary: Antonio Brown faces extradition to Miami on attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting a man during a dispute at a celebrity event.
