"Difficult decision": Livinia Nixon departs Nine News

Veteran presenter Livinia Nixon has announced she will leave her role at Nine News after 21 years, though she will continue working with Nine on the programs Postcards and Getaway.

“After two decades in the 9Newsroom, I’ve made the difficult decision to step back from my current role,” she wrote on Instagram. “As you know, the juggle of modern life is unrelenting and I need to spend more time with my boys. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being in your lounge rooms every night…. I haven’t always got the forecast right, but hey, that’s Melbourne for you!”

“I’m so grateful for so many years surrounded by a wonderful News team and proud to be leaving on a high. I’ll be cheering 9News on from the sidelines. I’ll always be thankful to Channel 9 for understanding my situation and supporting my decision. I’ll remain at 9 filming stories for Getaway and Postcards.”

“As my boys said, ‘We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’. My final weather report will be November 18. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
