After two decades presenting the weather for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has confirmed she will step down from the position. Her final appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 November. She will, however, continue her involvement with Nine’s travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the weather presenter role in 2004. Over 20 years, she became one of Melbourne’s most recognized and loved media figures, consistently bringing warmth and professionalism to her forecasts.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
The decision to step back comes as her two sons enter senior school. Nixon expressed that supporting them through this stage was an important priority.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
While concluding her weather duties, Nixon reaffirmed her ongoing partnership with the network’s travel programs, highlighting her gratitude and optimism for the future.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything, but this is the right decision for me.”
Her transition marks the end of an era for 9News Melbourne, where Nixon’s presence has been a hallmark of trust and warmth for viewers across the city.
