Remembrance Day services will take place across the Goulburn Valley towns on Tuesday, November 11, honoring those who fought and died for Australia. Each ceremony features a wreath laying and a minute of silence at 11am.
The Shepparton service starts at 10:30am at the cenotaph located at the corner of Welsford and Fryers Streets.
Kyriakos ‘Ken’ Tsirigotis, a 22-year Australian Army veteran and reconnaissance paratrooper, will be the guest speaker. Since leaving the Defence Force, he has worked at Melbourne Legacy and served on the Victorian Veterans Council.
A memorial plaque honoring World War I nurses who trained in the Goulburn Valley will be unveiled at this service.
The Mooroopna service will be held at the Mooroopna cenotaph on McLennan Street. Adrian Ambrose, a former teacher and retired lawyer, will deliver the guest speech.
The ceremonies provide a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by servicemen and women from the region.
