Edinburgh Trams to commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams to Commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams will mark Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to honor those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts.

To recognize the sacrifices of the armed forces, free tram travel will be offered to veterans and serving members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both days. They can access this by presenting military identification or wearing their uniform.

In the days leading up to the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Poppies will also decorate tram windows throughout the period.

At 11 a.m. on both days, services will briefly pause for a two-minute silence as a gesture of respect, provided it is safe to do so.

“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day,” said Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams. “As a former veteran myself, and with many colleagues who have served, we are deeply committed to honoring those who paid the ultimate price while serving our country.”
