The Christmas Pageant kicks off the festive season tomorrow morning, bringing excitement and large crowds to the city. Road users are advised to plan ahead due to several closures across the central business district (CBD).
Major roads will be closed from early morning until afternoon as over 300,000 spectators are expected to line the streets for the annual event. The full list of road closures is available on the Christmas Pageant website.
This year’s parade follows the traditional path, starting at South Terrace and continuing onto King William Street. It will pass along the western edge of Tarntanyangga, through Reconciliation Plaza, Wakefield Street, Pulteney Street, North Terrace, and conclude at Beehive Corner.
RAA Senior Manager Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain said, “The Christmas Pageant brings huge numbers to the city each year so road closures will be in place tomorrow morning to keep everyone safe.”
“On-street parking will be as rare as a white Christmas, so check for off-street options and allow plenty of extra time if you’re driving to the Pageant.”
All drivers are encouraged to consider alternative transportation and allow extra travel time to avoid delays.
Summary: The Christmas Pageant will cause extensive road closures in the CBD tomorrow, requiring early planning for travel and parking due to large crowds and safety measures.
