Several events will take place across Surrey on Tuesday, Nov. 11, to honour the service, courage, and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans.
“Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on the steadfast dedication of Canada’s veterans and those who continue to serve,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy and the communities we build. I encourage everyone to take a moment during Veterans Week and on Remembrance Day to reflect and express appreciation for the commitment and courage of our veterans and service members.”
Residents are encouraged to arrive early to find parking or consider alternative transportation methods such as biking or transit.
The largest Remembrance Day event in Surrey is expected to be held at Veterans Square in Cloverdale, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch. The ceremony will be livestreamed on the City of Surrey's Facebook page.
