Rugby League Commercial has confirmed that the Betfred World Club Challenge will return in 2026, with Hull KR hosting the Brisbane Broncos at the MKM Stadium. The highly anticipated match will be held on Thursday, February 19.
This event will feature a face-off between the 2025 champions of the Betfred Super League and the NRL’s Telstra Premiership. The game will also mark a quick return to the UK for several Australian stars from the Ashes series, including Reece Walsh, Kotoni Staggs, and Patrick Carrigan, as they take on Hull KR’s English representatives Mikey Lewis, Jez Litten, and Joe Burgess.
“We are delighted that Hull KR and Brisbane Broncos have confirmed the return of the Betfred World Club Challenge in 2026,” said Nigel Wood OBE, Chair of RL Commercial.
“Rugby League’s Anglo-Australian rivalry expands the sport’s global reach, as seen in the ongoing Ashes series, and it’s exciting to see the World Club Challenge coming for the first time to the great Rugby League city of Hull.”
“Hull KR will become only the sixth British club to earn the privilege of playing in the World Club Challenge — a fitting reward for their remarkable progress in recent years. They could not ask for a more iconic opponent than the Brisbane Broncos, one of Australia’s most legendary sporting names.”
