The San Jose Sharks secured a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena. Macklin Celebrini led the Sharks with a goal and two assists, contributing to San Jose's record of 5-6-3 and a strong recent performance of 4-1-1 in their last six games.
"Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps," said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. "I thought our game got better as the game went on."
Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal for the Kraken, who finished their five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record. Joey Daccord made 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period; Murray made three additional saves.
"Disconnected in a bunch of different areas," said Kraken coach Lane Lambert. "Our structure wasn't good enough tonight."
Celebrini opened the scoring with a goal just 1:08 into the first period. Receiving a pass from Toffoli from the right wing, Celebrini's wrist shot beat Daccord by the blocker.
"I was just in the slot and just there to put it in," Celebrini commented. "[Smith and Toffoli], they did a great job, getting on their D and forcing a turnover."
Later, Winterton tied the game 1-1 at 16:30.
Yaroslav Askarov's solid goaltending and strong team play led the Sharks to a decisive victory, underscoring their recent improvement.
