NBA insider Shams Charania shared new insights into LeBron James’ progress as the Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward continues to recover from a right-side sciatica issue. The 40-year-old veteran has not appeared in a game this season but is closing in on his historic 23rd year in the league.
Despite missing James, the Lakers have maintained their momentum and displayed strong team performance in his absence. Still, anticipation grows as his return to the court approaches.
During an appearance on NBA Today, Shams Charania discussed the upcoming phase of James’ recovery and the timeline for his return.
“LeBron James has been working out individually, and I’m told that the next step for him is 5-on-5 live play,” Charania said.
According to Charania, James will skip the Lakers’ upcoming five-game road trip beginning in Atlanta. Because of this, it’s uncertain when he’ll participate in full-contact drills. He may train with the G League South Bay Lakers or wait until the team returns home on November 16 to resume live play.
The precise timeline for James’ return to full 5-on-5 action remains open, but progress appears steady as he advances through his recovery plan.
LeBron James edges closer to his highly anticipated return, with his recovery from sciatica progressing toward a full 5-on-5 workout—the final phase before rejoining the Lakers lineup.
