Westmorland and Furness Council is proudly displaying the iconic red poppy to mark Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November). The poppy appears on many council buildings, libraries, care homes, and vehicles as a symbol of remembrance and support for the Armed Forces community.
Various commemorative events and services will take place throughout Westmorland and Furness, providing residents opportunities to pay their respects.
Cllr Vicky Hughes, Cabinet Member for Planning, Active Wellbeing and the Armed Forces, stated: "Remembrance is a time for us all to come together to honour the courage and sacrifices of our Armed Forces. It is an opportunity to reflect on their bravery, remember those we have lost and show our support for those who serve and their families. Their dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Councillors and senior officers will be attending services across Westmorland and Furness to pay our respects."
