Filmmaker Edgar Wright, known for his precise control over rhythm, tone, and timing, confirmed that a script for Baby Driver 2 exists. However, he dismissed rumors of working on a “Coen Brothers-style” film alongside Simon Pegg.
“I didn’t hear about that,” Wright said when asked about reports of the project. “Where did the Coen Brothers thing come from? I didn’t hear that.”
Wright explained that the rumor likely grew from a stray comment that was misunderstood and spread without basis.
Wright offered a frank view on the unpredictable nature of filmmaking, noting that many projects remain stuck in development and never reach production.
“Night Stalker is long gone,” he admitted. “But what exactly is the status of everything? Lots of things are in development, and [many] things are at a script stage. The development process is a long one, and some things go and some things don’t. People don’t always understand that not all directors are completely in control of what order things get made in.”
In an upcoming interview for The Playlist’s Discourse Podcast about The Running Man, Wright also reflected on how even a meticulous director can’t always dictate the path his projects take.
Edgar Wright confirms a script for Baby Driver 2 exists, debunks false rumors about a "Coen Brothers-style" film, and provides a candid perspective on the unpredictable nature of movie development.
