Netflix has released the first five minutes of the final season of Stranger Things, ahead of its staggered premiere this November. The teaser begins with a nostalgic look back to November 1983, the setting of the first season.
We see a CGI-de-aged Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) running from a tree-climbing Demogorgon. The creature briefly soothes Will by singing The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go.” Despite a gunshot to the face, the Demogorgon remains unfazed. Unexpectedly, it climbs trees and chases a terrified Will through the branches.
After a jump between trees, Will falls and loses consciousness. During this time, the Demogorgon drags his body to Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who lurks in the shadows and orchestrates the dark events unfolding.
“The Demogorgon, news to everyone, including the abject horror of Will, can also climb trees.”
“Here, we see Will Byers (Noah Schnapp)—poor, bowl-cut, CGI-de-aged Will—being terrorized by the Demogorgon.”
The teaser skillfully blends nostalgia with new terrors, setting the stage for the chilling final season of Stranger Things.
