The legendary Alan Shearer continues to hold the record for the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals. His prolific career has set a benchmark that has stood for over three decades.
Shearer will mark 31 years as the top Premier League goalscorer this December. Although his goals were scored over a lengthy career span, he first took the lead between August 1992 and December 1993, and no player has surpassed him since.
Before Shearer overtook him, Teddy Sheringham was the Premier League's top scorer for much of 1993. Shearer initially led the charts during the league’s inaugural season before a significant knee injury sidelined him.
"At the rate Erling Haaland is scoring, it probably won’t be that long until we’re pondering whether he’ll be the one to knock Shearer off his perch."
However, with modern players frequently changing clubs or leagues, Shearer's record could still stand for many years.
Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record is one of football’s longest-standing feats, resilient despite challenges from top scorers of past and present generations.
