Currently named Fung-wong, the storm has intensified into a severe tropical storm and is nearing the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). On Friday, it was located 1,470 kilometres east of Eastern Visayas, outside the PAR boundary.

The storm is expected to enter the PAR by midnight or early Saturday, at which point it will be renamed Uwan, meaning "rain" in Cebuano. Meteorologists predict possible landfall near Northern or Central Luzon on 10 November 2025, likely at peak intensity.

Forecasters have warned that the storm could bring life-threatening conditions across large parts of Luzon.
