Mild fall conditions will persist through Friday before a system moves in this weekend, potentially bringing the first mix of rain and snow to the Chicago area this season. FOX 32’s Mike Caplan provides the weather update.
Today will be mostly sunny despite a passing cold front, with windy conditions. High temperatures will range from the low to mid-50s in northern counties to the low 60s further south. Tonight will be clear and chilly, with lows in the 30s.
Saturday begins with some clouds that will thicken later in the afternoon. Highs are expected to reach the upper 50s. After midnight Saturday night, light showers are likely, but rainfall amounts should be minimal.
By daybreak Friday, showers will have passed, leading to sunshine and mild temperatures with highs in the low to mid-60s. Saturday starts partly sunny, becoming cloudier with rain arriving late in the day.
Computer models increasingly suggest that enough cold air will move in overnight Saturday to change some of the rain into snow. Current forecasts do not indicate significant snow accumulation.
Both the US and European models are showing this scenario to at least some extent.
The exact form and timing of precipitation between Saturday night and Monday morning remain under discussion.
