Today was meant to mark the theatrical release of Avengers: Secret Wars, a highly anticipated sequel destined to change the franchise’s direction. However, the reality is quite different—this film is now scheduled for December 17, 2027, more than two years later than initially planned.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios revealed an ambitious slate of upcoming films. Alongside footage from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced two new Avengers movies planned for 2025:

Though November 7, 2025, was originally the release date, the film has been pushed back significantly. This shift results largely from Marvel ending its relationship with Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang. His exit required a major change in the ongoing storyline.
Currently, fans are awaiting Avengers: Doomsday, set to premiere over a year away, with Secret Wars trailing even further behind. The delay highlights the challenges Marvel faces in adapting its expansive cinematic universe.
The much-anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars was initially slated for today but has been delayed until late 2027 due to key storyline changes, reflecting Marvel's evolving cinematic plans.
