Residents of Metro Vancouver can enjoy a brief period of clear skies before a series of storms impacts the region. Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Proctor reported a sunny start to the weekend in the Lower Mainland after two frontal systems brought significant rain and wind earlier.
Proctor explained,
"The rain during rush hour was more intense than we expected, although rainfall totals were aligned with the forecast."
Rainfall warnings were issued to usual high-risk areas such as the North Shore and Port Coquitlam, which experienced higher precipitation.
Rainfall totals on Sunday are expected to range from 20 to 40 mm in most areas. However, the North Shore, Port Moody, and Port Coquitlam could see 40 to 70 mm, possibly prompting new rainfall warnings.
"These areas may be issued rainfall warnings," Proctor said.
