The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warnings across parts of Alaska, Montana, and Washington, predicting significant snowfall and hazardous travel conditions through early Friday.
In Washington, warnings remain active for the Cascades region of Whatcom and Skagit counties, as well as Western Okanogan County. Areas along Highway 20 and near Mount Baker are expected to experience heavy snowfall.
"The highest elevations within the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit counties could receive nearly three feet of snow through Friday morning."
According to NWS Seattle, snowfall amounts could reach 8–10 inches near Rainy Pass and one to two feet on Mount Baker. Additional snowfall of up to seven inches is forecast by NWS Spokane for elevations above 4,000 feet in Western Okanogan County, including Washington Pass.
In Alaska, multiple winter weather advisories have been issued. The Anchorage and Eagle River areas may see 2–4 more inches of snow, which could create slippery roads and difficult travel conditions.
Parts of Montana are also under advisories for winter storms, with NWS warning of potential travel hazards due to heavy snow and reduced visibility.
The NWS urged travelers and residents in affected regions to plan ahead, use caution on the roads, and carry emergency supplies in case of extended delays or power outages.
