A Carencro man will spend life in prison after being convicted of murder in the death of his 7-year-old stepdaughter from fentanyl, court records show.
District Judge Valerie Gotch-Garrett sentenced Daniel Boudreaux Jr., 52, of Carencro, to life in prison on Friday, November 7. He was found guilty of second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, and possession with intent to distribute.
The jury in Lafayette Parish returned the verdict on Monday, July 14. Daniel Boudreaux Jr. was initially charged with negligent homicide after emergency services found the child unresponsive on January 10, 2023. The charges were later upgraded after a grand jury convened in October 2023.
