Singapore, Nov 7, 2025 — A 22-year-old man, Aaron Samuel Yukon, was sentenced to nine months in jail for attacking actor Ryan Lian with a karambit knife following a fight outside Nex shopping mall.
The altercation occurred at around 6:15 p.m. on November 22, 2024. Both men were smoking along a covered walkway when they became irritated with each other for staring. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight involving pushing and punching.
During the struggle, Yukon reached into his pouch and drew out a small curved knife. Initially, the sheath was still on, but it came off during the attack.
“The accused used the karambit to attack Lian, and while he was doing so, the sheath of the karambit fell off and the accused was using the uncovered karambit to attack Lian,” said Deputy Public Prosecutor Xavier Tan.
Yukon pleaded guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt. Another charge, related to possession of an offensive weapon, was considered during sentencing.
Ryan Lian is a local actor known for his roles in films such as Ah Boys to Men 4 and Money No Enough 3.
