Geneva/Doha, 6 November 2025 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Human Concern International (HCI), Canada’s oldest Muslim relief organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth USD 1 million. This agreement aims to enhance protection systems and provide crucial humanitarian aid to those affected by crisis, displacement, and human trafficking.
Grounded in Islamic principles such as Zakat and Sadaqah, the collaboration highlights a shared dedication to combating exploitation and preserving human dignity.
Through this partnership, IOM and HCI reaffirm their pledge to eradicate human trafficking, fight all forms of exploitation, and protect the rights of vulnerable groups.
“This agreement represents a meaningful step in strengthening IOM’s partnerships with faith-inspired organizations committed to dignity, freedom, and protection for all,” said Mohammed Abdiker, IOM Chief of Staff. “It reinforces the power of faith-based collaboration in addressing the root causes of exploitation and ensuring that no one is left behind. Together with HCI, we can translate compassion into tangible action for people affected by crises across the world.”
This partnership supports IOM’s wider initiatives to work with diverse partners for delivering principled humanitarian assistance.
The IOM and HCI partnership demonstrates how faith-based collaboration fosters effective humanitarian action against exploitation and human trafficking.
