Detectives are searching for a suspect who attacked an 18-year-old in Times Square after asking if he was part of a gang. The incident occurred near 3 Times Square at about 1:30 a.m. over the weekend.
The victim was approached by a group and questioned about gang affiliation. Although he denied being involved with a gang, a man then slashed him across the face before fleeing the scene.
Officers from the Midtown South Precinct quickly responded, placing the teenager in a police cruiser and rushing him to Mount Sinai West hospital. He was treated for his injury and is now in stable condition.
Police have shared surveillance images of the suspect, asking the public for help in identifying him.
