Renowned custom shop Ringbrothers is showcasing an 800 hp supercharged 1969 Mustang Mach 1 at this year's SEMA show. Known for their exceptional builds, the Wisconsin-based team continually delivers projects that make you question why anyone would choose a standard modern supercar over their unique creations.
The Kingpin is built on a late 1960s Mustang fastback, known as the Sportsroof in 1969 Ford terminology. Unlike some of Ringbrothers’ more unconventional projects, such as vintage Rolls Royce, AMC Javelin, and a classic Aston Martin DBS, this one aligns more closely with traditional muscle car roots but with a bold twist.
The build took more than 5,500 hours to complete, demonstrating meticulous craftsmanship and dedication. Significant modifications include widening the body by 2 inches (50 mm) at the front and 3.5 inches (89 mm) at the rear, and finishing the shell with BASF’s Bootleg Black paint for a striking look.
“The Mustang Mach 1 has always been an aggressive-looking car, and the client was adamant about creating a sinister aesthetic,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring. “We asked ourselves, ‘What would the final boss in a John Wick film drive?’ This was the result.”
The Kingpin exudes a dark, commanding presence, perfect for those who envision their car as a leading character in an action thriller.
Ringbrothers recently crafted an Aston Martin that captures the spirit of a Mustang GTD, highlighting their versatility and ability to blend styles across different automotive eras.
