Hayley Williams has returned with a fresh track titled Showbiz. This release coincides with the physical launch of her album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.
“Showbiz” features crisp drums, a vocoder-enhanced chorus, and sparkling synths, presenting a romantic indie pop vibe. The production, a collaboration between Williams and Daniel James, evokes the smooth, syncopated grooves reminiscent of Phoenix. Notably, Williams previously sampled Phoenix’s 2017 song “Fior di Latte” on her track “Love Me Different.”
While no official tour dates have been announced, there are hints of an upcoming world tour. On the album’s surprise release website, Williams placed a photo in the “trash” folder showing a possible tour route handwritten on paper. The list features North American cities such as Atlanta, Toronto, Nashville, Chicago, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles, along with several UK and European locations.
“The song’s sticky production, courtesy of Williams and Ego Death collaborator Daniel James, recalls the smooth, syncopated grooves of Phoenix.”
