Lucy Liu and Lawrence Shou in Indie Drama "Rosemead"
Inspired by a haunting true story, Lucy Liu delivers a compelling, career-defining performance as an ailing mother driven to extremes to protect her troubled teenage son, played by Lawrence Shou. As his dark obsessions intensify, she faces desperate choices about how far she is willing to go and what sacrifices she must make.
Set within a Chinese American community struggling with hidden tensions, "Rosemead" portrays a family on the brink. Directed by cinematographer and filmmaker Eric Lin, the movie marks his feature debut following several short films and his work as a director of photography on numerous independent productions.
The screenplay is written by Marilyn Fu and produced by Mynette Louie and Andrew D. The film premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and will be released in select U.S. theaters by Vertical starting December 5, 2025.
