Brad Brownell’s Clemson Tigers featured their largest influx of transfers ever in the season opener, utilizing 12 players Monday night. Only one player had appeared in a Clemson uniform last season, highlighting a dramatic roster overhaul.
The Tigers officially kicked off the 2025-26 season at Littlejohn Coliseum with an 88-38 rout over New Hampshire. The Wildcats had struggled last year, finishing 8-24 and ranked 355th out of 364 Division I teams in the NET system, providing little challenge for Clemson.
The Tigers were far superior and easily covered the 41.5-point spread set by FanDuel, winning by 50 points. When 76% of the roster consists of new faces, gaining on-court experience becomes essential.
“We’ve still got to figure everybody out,” Brownell said after the game.
With a revamped roster and key new contributors, Clemson’s early game reps will shape their cohesion and performance as the season progresses.
“It’s a season of change for Clemson and coach Brad Brownell,” the team acknowledged following the opener.
While the opponent was weaker, the match underscored the significance of adjusting and integrating the many newcomers.
The 2025-26 Clemson men’s basketball season begins with a roster mostly new to the program, emphasizing the importance of blending fresh talent under coach Brownell's leadership.
