Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia Shares Heartbreaking Loss of Infant Daughter

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla revealed the tragic passing of their baby daughter, Sterling. The couple shared the news on Friday through an emotional Instagram post.

“Our little angel, we love you forever and you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we're going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”

Vesia also thanked the Dodgers organization, Blue Jays, and baseball fans across the community for their compassion during this deeply painful time.

“Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn't be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen all your messages, comments and posts. It's brought us so much comfort.”

The couple expressed gratitude to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the medical staff who cared for Kayla and Sterling, describing everyone they met as exceptionally kind and supportive. Vesia accompanied his message with a black-and-white photo showing their daughter's tiny hand resting on theirs.

The cause of Sterling’s death has not been disclosed. Vesia had been away from the Dodgers since October 23, when the team stated that he and his wife were facing a “deeply personal matter.”
