Ken Jennings, host of the popular game show Jeopardy!, addressed backlash following a recent clue that confused both contestants and fans. The clue read: “A.I. generated the TikTok image of this pig/human eventually killed by Tim Cheese.”
The controversy did not stem from the difficulty of the clue, but rather from how the online meme was described. Many fans disagreed with labeling John Pork as AI-generated.
“John Pork isn’t AI, don’t slander him!”
“JOHN PORK IS NOT AI,”
“Upset I immediately knew the answer even with the question phrased incorrectly, he was NOT AI!”
Jennings responded in a TikTok video posted on Saturday, November 2, explaining the issue:
“When we played a clue recently on ‘Jeopardy!’ about John Pork, I remarked that I didn’t understand a word of it. Well, I’ve had the chance to learn quite a bit since that clue aired about the late Mr. Pork, including the fact that some viewers took exception with our description of him as AI-generated. Now, even though AI is used heavily in many of his TikToks, it’s possible that wasn’t the best wording to refer to his original appearances.”
Ken Jennings apologized for wording a ‘Jeopardy!’ clue that inaccurately described John Pork as AI-generated, clarifying the confusion and addressing fan concerns about the meme’s origin.
