Alex Vesia is away from the Dodgers due to a “deeply personal family matter,” according to a statement from the team before Game 1 of the series.
Dodgers pitchers have worn Vesia’s jersey number during their World Series appearances. In solidarity, several Blue Jays relievers have also adopted his number, including:
