Peloton is recalling approximately 833,000 bikes because of a safety issue that could cause riders to fall or suffer injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday.
The New York City-based fitness and media company reported that the seat post assembly on certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models may break during use, which “poses a potential fall and injury risk to consumers.”
About 833,000 units were sold in the U.S., with no issues reported for the 44,800 units sold in Canada.
Peloton has received three reports of seat post failures during exercise, which led to two injuries from falls.
Users are advised to stop using the recalled bikes “immediately” and contact Peloton for a free seat post replacement, which can be installed by the user.
Summary: Peloton recalls over 830,000 bikes due to seat post breakage risk, urging users to stop using affected models and obtain free replacements to prevent injury.
