Several major airlines are providing more flexible options for passengers affected by new FAA restrictions, which are expected to intensify through the weekend.
Impact on Boston’s Logan Airport
Logan Airport is among 40 U.S. airports where flights may be reduced to ensure the safety of national airspace, according to the Massachusetts Port Authority. The FAA announced these measures would begin on Friday.
A Massport representative stated they were waiting for FAA details on affected flights but had already observed some late changes on Thursday.
The agency expects delays and cancellations and advised travelers to verify their flight status before heading to the airport.
Airlines Offering Refunds and Flexible Policies
- Delta: Allows customers traveling to, from, or through affected areas during this period to change, cancel, or refund flights without penalty, including Main Basic fares.
- United: Offers refunds for any customer traveling during this time who chooses not to fly, even if their flight is not directly impacted. This applies to non-refundable and basic economy tickets.
- JetBlue: Waives change fees and fare differences for flights to and from Boston between Thursday and Monday.
"Delta says customers traveling to, from or through the impacted markets during the impacted travel period can change, cancel or refund their flights, including Delta Main Basic fares, without penalty during this travel period."
Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on flight statuses and airline policies amid these evolving restrictions.
