Connor Ingram recently opened up about his mental health struggles and his ongoing journey in professional hockey after missing most of the 2024-25 season due to personal issues.
Ingram entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program twice: first in 2021 for depression and undiagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and again in March 2025 following the death of his mother and his father's cancer diagnosis.
“When I stepped away, I knew it was probably: keep playing hockey or lose your life. I made a decision, and I accepted what was going to come next.”
Since being traded to the Edmonton Oilers on October 1, 2025, Ingram has been playing with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, to regain his form after missing training camp. This step is part of his effort to get back up to speed professionally.
