Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are reportedly joining forces for their first collaborative film project—an unexpected Muppet movie centered on the iconic character Miss Piggy.
During an interview on the Las Culturistas podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Lawrence shared the surprising update:
“I don't know if I can announce this, but I'm just going to. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie.”
The screenplay will be written by Cole Escola, known for writing and starring in the Broadway hit Oh, Mary!, and also for his television work on shows like The Other Two, At Home with Amy Sedaris, and Ziwe.
When asked if she and Stone would star in the film, Lawrence responded with a laugh:
“I think so… We have to.”Further details about the project remain under wraps.
I’m enthusiastic about this fresh Muppets venture and have long hoped for their greater presence, including hosting the Oscars, which they truly deserve.
