Karrueche Tran is officially adding "rapper" to her impressive resume. Known as an Emmy Award-winning actress, beauty mogul, and fashion icon, she is now turning heads as a platinum-selling rapper in Lifetime’s original film Terry McMillan Presents: Preach, Pray, Love, which premiered on November 8.
The film follows Charlisa “Charlie” Jones, a platinum-selling rapper portrayed by Tran. Charlie's bold persona and fiery lyrics have gained more headlines than genuine harmony. After serving time behind bars, she is sentenced to community service under the guidance of Pastor Kyrus Owens, a devoted minister fundraising for a new church home.
Despite their vastly different lives, a strong connection develops between Charlie and Pastor Owens. Their growing romance causes the congregation to question Pastor Owens’ dedication, while Charlie faces the challenge of balancing her rebellious image with a longing for redemption. The story explores themes of faith, forgiveness, and fame.
Karrueche describes her role as her most musically challenging yet. At the Raising Cane’s Giant Pumpkin Unveiling Event in Hollywood, she shared with Celeb Secrets:
“I’m not musically inclined in any way, but it was a great challenge. I studied a rapper named Lola Brooke, I prepared myself, and I did it.”
Karrueche Tran ventures into rap acting, portraying a complex character balancing public image and personal redemption, marking a bold step in her career.
