All-New Toyota Hilux Debuts Globally with All-Electric Powertrain

Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an all-electric powertrain for the first time. The traditional 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system remains available. The new Hilux features a complete redesign both inside and out, with enhanced technology throughout.

Design Overhaul and Exterior Features

The latest Hilux adopts a fresh design inspired by the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. Its front showcases sleek LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs) and a bold, closed grille featuring prominent ‘TOYOTA’ lettering. The muscular front bumper includes silver accents and integrated LED fog lamps, enhancing its rugged look.

From the side, the Hilux keeps its familiar dual-cab body style and flatbed, paired with aerodynamically styled alloy wheels. The all-electric model adds a charging flap on the front fender to accommodate its new powertrain.

Rear Design Highlights

Toyota also confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version of the Hilux, which is scheduled to arrive in 2028.

This new generation of Hilux stands out with its modern design and powertrain options, combining proven diesel technology and an innovative electric model.

Author’s summary: The all-new Toyota Hilux offers a major design update and debuts an all-electric version, while maintaining its trusted diesel engine and planning a hydrogen fuel-cell model for 2028.
