Jesus cleanses the temple, courageously confronting corruption with a prophetic passion—an event leading to his crucifixion.
Then I was brought back to the temple entrance, where water flowed from below its threshold toward the east, as the temple faced that direction. The water came down from the south end of the temple’s threshold, just south of the altar.
Next, I was led out through the north gate and around the outside to the outer gate facing east. The water emerged on the south side there.
He said, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; when it enters the sea—the sea of stagnant waters—it becomes fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living thing that swarms will live, and there will be abundant fish once these waters arrive. The water will be fresh, and life will thrive along its course."
On both banks of the river, every kind of fruit tree will grow. The leaves won’t wither, nor will the fruit fail, as fresh fruit will be produced each month. The water comes from the sanctuary, providing nourishment. The fruit serves as food, and the leaves bring healing.
“Therefore, we will not fear, even if the earth changes, if mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though waters roar and foam, and mountains tremble with their tumult.”
The flowing water symbolizes life and renewal, grounded in the sanctuary’s holy source, offering healing and sustenance beyond natural disruption.
