Toyota has officially introduced the next-generation Hilux, now featuring an all-electric version alongside diesel and hydrogen models as part of the company’s multi-pathway carbon neutrality strategy.
The ninth-generation Hilux made its global debut in Bangkok, Thailand. Unlike previous facelifts, this version represents a complete redesign, combining the pickup’s rugged heritage with modern electrification.
The Hilux BEV is powered by a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing more than 300 km of range per charge. It employs dual eAxles — one in the front and one in the rear — delivering a total output of 144 kW. Toyota reports that higher eAxle efficiency enhances both driving range and performance.
“This isn’t just a green version of the Hilux — it’s still capable of doing what Hilux owners expect it to do.”
The battery pack is positioned under the floor to optimize vehicle balance and interior space, maintaining the utility expected from a Hilux.
The electric Hilux is scheduled for release across Asia in 2026, with the hydrogen-powered variant to follow later as Toyota continues its carbon-neutral roadmap.
