Two Australian men received acclaim from a visiting American country music star for defending a McDonald’s employee from a problematic customer in a viral video.
Drew Baldridge, a US country singer touring Australia with Jelly Roll, shared footage showing an unsettling event where a female staff member was allegedly verbally abused and spat on.
“Wrong country if you want to abuse women,” one of the men said in the video.
In the video posted on his social media with the caption “Never abuse women,” Baldridge expressed how inspiring it was to see the men intervene and restrain the alleged offender.
He observed the man repeatedly insulting the staffer. Baldridge said, “He probably said it like five times and I was starting to get frustrated.”
He confronted the man: “Bro, you need to calm down. You don’t talk to women like that.”
The situation escalated when the man appeared to spit at the employee, reportedly because his order was incorrect.
At that moment, others in the restaurant stepped in.
“Hey bro we don’t talk to women like that,” they told him.
Baldridge recalled, “And before I know it these dudes got this dude on the ground.”
The quick action of bystanders in a Melbourne restaurant earned praise from a US country star for standing up against disrespect and abuse toward women.
