Incline Village, a wealthy enclave in Lake Tahoe dominated by conservative billionaires, is facing a significant plumbing issue. According to SFGate, the Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) warned residents on November 3 about a potential contamination in the local water system.
“An event that resulted in loss of pressure in the distribution system could have allowed contaminants, including fecal matter and disease-causing organisms, into the local water supply.”
In other words, residents might be dealing with bacteria in their tap water. The circumstances resemble a similar incident earlier in the year, when a Miami island populated by billionaires reportedly pressured local officials to manage their waste problems in questionable ways.
IVGID advised residents in the affected area to boil their water for at least three minutes before drinking, cooking, or brushing their teeth. Local sales of bottled water, especially brands like Saratoga Springs, are expected to rise following the warning.
The advisory mentions that untreated water could contain parasites, viruses, and bacteria capable of causing nausea, diarrhea, and other health issues. However, officials emphasized that the notice is purely a precaution and that there is currently no confirmed evidence of fecal contamination.
Lake Tahoe’s ultra-wealthy community faces an ironic crisis as officials warn of possible fecal contamination in local water, urging residents to boil it before use.
