Sen. Jacky Rosen Accuses Republican Colleague of Stalking Her Staff

During a Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing, Senator Jacky Rosen accused Republican Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) of stalking her staff. The confrontation arose after Moreno admitted to collecting vehicle identification numbers (VINs) from his Democratic colleagues’ cars.

Moreno, a former car dealership owner, justified his actions by saying he wanted to expose what he sees as hypocrisy among Democrats. He highlighted that none of his Democratic colleagues had purchased additional automobile safety features on their personal vehicles.

“Would it surprise you that I got the VIN numbers of every one of my Democrat colleagues’ vehicles and found that none of them bought any of the additional safety technologies on their cars?” Moreno asked. “So when you are actually shopping for a car with your own money, you don’t buy the technology, but we’re sitting here saying this should be mandated for everybody else’s cars.”

The exchange sparked a broader debate about privacy and party responsibility amid the ongoing government shutdown, now the longest in American history at 36 days. During the hearing, two other senators spoke without directly addressing Moreno’s claims.

Bernie Moreno’s admission created tension in the committee as accusations of harassment and privacy invasion surfaced.
