The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, advising residents in 20 areas of the UK to get ready for possible flooding and to prepare an emergency kit with essential items.
The alert came into effect at midday today and will last until 8 a.m. tomorrow. It affects large parts of South Wales and the south-west of England, where rain is expected to become heavier and more widespread before easing early Wednesday.
"If your home could be at risk of flooding, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or adjusting travel plans if necessary."
The Met Office suggests gathering items such as torches, batteries, and mobile phone power packs in case of power cuts or other disruptions caused by the severe weather.
"Cloudy once more, with outbreaks of rain."
