The superhero workplace comedy Dispatch, developed by Ad Hoc Studio, has become an unexpected hit. Created by a team with roots in Telltale Games, it sold one million copies within just 10 days of release.
While the first season of Dispatch isn't fully released yet, its early success has increased the chances of a second season. Pierre Shorette, co-founder of Ad Hoc Studios, shared with the Friends Per Second podcast:
"We're going to have to at least think about season two now. That was a question mark three weeks ago. So that's great—it's a very cool problem to have."
The statement came just days after the game’s launch, marking a rapid shift from uncertainty to a positive outlook on future development.
As noted by PC Gamer’s Jody Macgregor, Telltale's sudden closure left a gap in narrative-driven games. Despite its influence, no clear successor to Telltale’s storytelling legacy has emerged yet.
"Telltale mattered, yes, but did it really? You'd be forgiven for wondering exactly how, given the unfilled void left by its passing."
Dispatch's strong initial performance is encouraging its creators to consider continuing the series, filling a niche recently left vacant by Telltale's departure.
