Power Outage Volumes in Ukraine Are Decreasing

The energy situation in Ukraine remains challenging, but efforts by energy workers have helped reduce the extent of power outages. This was stated by Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk at a recent press conference, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Current Energy Deficit and Repairs

Hrynchuk acknowledged a continuing deficit in the energy system. However, she highlighted that equipment which could be quickly restored has been repaired, contributing to the reduction in power outage volumes.

"We are working to minimize the outage schedules. But the situation continues to be difficult. Practically every week we experience a massive combined attack."

Preparedness and Uncertainty Ahead

Ukraine has developed response plans for various emergencies within the energy sector. Despite this, forecasting remains nearly impossible due to the unpredictability of attacks.

"Right now, it is very difficult to make forecasts. We do not know what will be damaged next time or where the enemy's attack will be directed."

Recent Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

On the night of November 8, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy system.
The Trypilska and Zmiivska thermal power plants were shut down as a result.
Substations vital for nuclear safety were also targeted during the attack.
