Franklin, 32, has shown resilience by going the full distance with Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua within five months from November 2022 to April 2023. Although he lost both bouts, he was never stopped or knocked down.
In contrast, Itauma has maintained an aggressive knockout streak. After four fights in 2024, he has competed twice this year, finishing Mike Balogun by second-round TKO in May and delivering a swift one-round victory over Whyte in Riyadh three months later.
Initially rumored to return on December 13, Itauma will instead wait six more weeks to continue his knockout rampage. Franklin enters the fight on a three-match winning streak since his loss to Joshua, but faces a significant rise in competition level.
Moses Itauma’s January 24 bout against Jermaine Franklin represents a major opportunity to prove himself against a tested American contender, promising an exciting event as part of Frank Warren’s Magnificent Seven series.
