The supermarket has closed 17 smaller Morrisons Daily convenience stores as part of a major restructuring effort. A total of 103 outlets including cafes, florists, and pharmacies are set to close.
“In some stores where we are closing counters or Cafés, we plan to work with third parties to provide a relevant specialist offer. Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the overall scale of the Morrisons business, we do not take lightly the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues.” – Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons
Morrisons closed all but one of its Daily stores by April 16. The Haxby branch in North Yorkshire closed on May 14, less than a month later.
Rachel Reeves is "looking at" implementing a pay-per-mile car tax affecting 1.3 million drivers.
Summary: Morrisons is shutting 103 cafes, florists, pharmacies, and Market Kitchens, plus multiple meat and fish counters, as part of a broad business restructuring impacting staff and services.
